It was during the performance of musician Jason Aldean that the bullets were being showered on the attendees. The shooter Stephen Paddock – who was 64 years old and hailed from Mesquite, Nevada – was shooting from one of the topmost floors of the Mandalay hotel. However, when the police managed to trace his location he was already dead in his hotel room. The detectives are conducting a background check on Paddock and rummaging through his home, belongings as part of their investigation.

Apparently, the Islamic State is claiming that Paddock was one of their comrades. But, the police have not been able to find any evidence to prove that Paddock had terrorist links. Additionally, his relatives have verified that he had no political aspirations.

At Paddock’s hotel room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bar and Resort, a weapon pile of 32 arms including rifles and handguns were found. They also searched his car and recovered a huge cache of ammonium nitrate material that is needed during the production of explosives.

The police are searching for further clues for ascertaining the motive behind the mass murders. They seem clueless on why Paddock, a former accountant and holding no criminal records, would unleash a storm of bullets on innocent bystanders during a concert festival. As per the evidence that they have gathered so far, it seems he was acting alone. This fact was corroborated by Todd Fasulo – Clark County Assistant Sheriff – during a press conference held on Monday.

According to reports, Paddock was alive when the soldiers first made contact with him when they were scouting each floor of the hotel for tracing the mass murderer. When they finally reached his room, he started firing shots at the door. During the scuffle, a security guard received a bullet wound on his leg. Eventually, the SWAT team managed to break open Paddock’s hotel room. By then, Paddock had already shot himself by them and was dead.

Several night vigils were held by community members for offering their condolences to the dead and injured person.

The heroic acts of several people were recorded as they risked their lives for saving others. Strangers were tending to each other and covering their wounds to stop the bleeding. Following the shoot-out, people also came out in hordes to donate blood to the injured persons. Furthermore, the families of the dead and injured person coming to Las Vegas were being offered accommodation, food, transportation and other facilities.

The latest Las Vegas shooting is another stark reminder of the troublesome times that we are living through. However, we urge you to remain hopeful that someday this world will become a better place to live in for us and our children.
